The Last Briscoe Dig
Larry Gay, from Houston shows off this wonderful needle tipped Friday he found early Saturday!
Randy Miller from Arlington found this Bell point with the ears clipped (as most are!) None the less, it is a great ancient find!
A close up of Randy's find!
Neil Nethery of "Houston" found two great pieces! A 6000 year old Nolan and a 10,000 year CLASSIC HELL GAP! Neil has had the most luck at this site since we started redigging the Briscoe Ranch! No wonder he keeps coming back from Houston!
Victor Bergia from Lubbock was not to be outdone! He found this perfect 6000 year old LaJita! The next photo shows you a close up of it!
Victor shows off his CLASSIC "LA JITA!"
Mark Petter from Katy (Houston, AGAIN! *!#, What's the deal! HAHA) shows off his highly patinated , at least 6000 year old Nolan!
,...and his closeup!!!
...and the snowy white "other side!"
Finally, from DALLAS (GO COWBOYS), Bill Cox found a translucent Nolan and Early Triangular. The Awesome Crescent blade was found at this site but a few weeks earlier! Let's look at it closer!
Folks, this is a GEM quality Crescent knife! a Full 4" long!
This photo shows the color, the stripes, the cortex at the base and the nice tan tip!
Ed Roseman from San Antonio found these nice pieces at the dig!
Wayne Turley from Odessa found these two cool knives! The Crescent on the right is translucent with lightening bolt patination!
AND THE CLOSE UPS!
SUNDAYS DIG!
There were only two diggers, but I did not have anything else to do so WE dug!
Sunday, Willie Smith of San Antonio and Wayne Truly of Odessa had a BALL! We had it to ourselves!
Willie found this AWESOME TRANSLUCENT DRILL AND AN UN- ID POINT!
THE DRILL!
THE POINT!
LOOK AT THE POINT ON THE RIGHT! WITH MUD ON IT, THE PIECE LOOKS LIKE A 5" CLOVIS! BUT, EVEN WITH SOME PARALLEL FLAKING AND SOME GRINDING ON THE BASE, IT APPEARS TO BE ONLY AN EARLY ARCHAIC KNIFE! DANG, THAT OLD BAD LUCK! haha
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT HERE ARE SOME PAST DIG PHOTOS!
We have been finding some great pieces as we have reopened the Brisco dig site! Everything there is just about 6 to 8 thousand years old!
Not to be outdone Wayne Gulley found the "Blade II" at the second dig! This one of the finest Old knives I have ever seen! It is at least 6000 years old. Very patinated and has great flaking scars! I have included a photo of the thinness for you to see! It is awesome!
A proud Wayne Gulley, from San Angelo, Texas
Look at those flaking scars!!!
How is that for thinness? Check out the bevel! This is as fine as it gets!
The next photo is of Bill Cox's Crescent Blade found at the last Brisco Dig! It is awesome!
Now that is a Crescent Knife! ....and you can find yours too............ read on...
We are having a Backhoe sift at the Bird point site in San Angelo JUNE 10TH and 11TH! The bird point mound produced some killer points! OVER 2 INCH PERDIZ AND HARRELLS! Call 830-367-7012 for more info!!!
