Two classes available now...
Restore Your Artifacts
Occasionally,  I will be putting on a class teaching restoration of stone artifacts.  WAAAAAY back in the '90's I wrote a book on flint restoration and was doing restoring at the artifact shows, for members etc.  This was all before Mr. Bushy, Dr. Gomer (famous restorer's now) and others.  I never claimed to ever have been as good as these two fellows and still don't. The work they do is phenomenal.  True artists.  But I was good enough that I was swamped in restoration work!
The digs were going well and restoring artifacts was getting in the way of digging so I decided to write a book on restoring, sell that and go on about my digging.
The book still exists, I still sell a few on E-bay etc. The price for the book and a sample of the epoxy I use is in the $30 range, click the link to go there or use the links above the page to navigate your way there. - Restore your own points.
Also, occasionally,  I put on a "Hands On" class.  I will be teaching the book so you can actually see how it is done.

You do not have to be an "artist" to do simple restorations to your broken artifacts.  To do the more larger, complicated pieces it will help if you have a natural artistic talent. I will explain how to do that too!
With this class, you will be restoring broken tips, ears etc. so that they will look great in your case again!
Class includes a copy of the book and sample of epoxy for your to take home.  Bring 2-3 points that need the ears or tips repaired.  We will work on those.  I will teach you how to mix and apply the epoxy,as well as, use the Dremel tool to make the flaking patterns.  We will mix the paint to paint your restorations etc.
Class are usually held at my home on a Saturday.  Starting 10 AM.  We will take a lunch break while the epoxy is setting up.
So come learn how to restore some of those broken pieces close to what they looked like when they were made.
Please call me for more info and to sign up. (Add your name to the list and when you can come - when we get enough to have a class I will hold it!)
210-275-5657 or E-mail me at texasaaa@aol.com

Directions will be given upon sign up.
Class is $100 (with discounts the class could be as low as $80! - read below) and includes the book, epoxy used at the class, all paints, use of my tools and instruction.  You will also get a sample of epoxy to take home with you (sorry I do not give my source of epoxy out to anyone other than those who buy the book or take the class).

I would recommend this class to anyone interested in restoring their points. The time and compensation for this class is definitely a bargain for everyone.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Sincerely,
Steve Jones, Taylor, TX

The drill, we restored the whole tip.
Steve Holding a couple of his points we are about to restore.
Photo of pieces while setting up!
The way it works is you bring 1-3 points
(according to how many students we have).  We add the
epoxy to what you bring.  It takes about an hour to set up
to the point it can be moved.  But it takes 24 hours before
the flaking patterns can be added.  So, I have one of my
points (in this case the drill) ready to be carved and painted.
I do this in advance so I can show you the whole process.
We carve and paint my artifact.  You take the pieces home
that you brought that now have epoxy on them and practice
what you learned from us working on one of my points.  That
way you can see the whole process.  Of course you go home
with the book which is even more detailed than the class and
you get a sampling of the epoxy with where to order it (sorry,
I do not give out my sources unless you take the class).

Build Your Own Atl-Atl Spear Thrower
&
Atl-Atl Spear!
Now is your chance to build your own Atl-Atl spear set. Your completed set will be an authentic reproduction Spear Thrower (with Atl-Atl weight attached) and an Atl-Atl Spear complete with a fore shaft and point that we make or you can bring one of yours that we will haft on to the fore shaft.
The History Channel hired me to make two sets of Atl-Atl's, train and dress their actors for a show they were going to do (it never aired).  You will be taught hands on how to build your own "as close to authentic Atl-Atl set" that can be made by modern man.
We go to the river and will cut our own river cane to make our spear.  We will knap an early type point to attach to our fore shaft.  We will fletch the spear and age it.
Also, we will go in the woods and pick the perfect limb to make our spear thrower out of.  We will make it from scratch right off the tree.  It will be scraped and finger loops added.  We will even put an authentic type of Atl-Atl weight on it!
When completed you can throw it to make sure it flies true!
Then you can hunt with it or just hang it in your home to show people what the ancients hunted with.
Class will be held here at my home.  Starting 10 AM until finished!  We will take a lunch break.
This class is a bargain at $250. Your Atl-Atl set would easily retail for that up to $500.  Plus, you will know how to fix it if it breaks or build another!
There is a 10% discount if your membership is current.  Another 10% discount for you only if you bring a non-TAAA member and they take the class.
FIRST TIME SEEN BY THE PUBLIC!
Here are two actors that I dressed (made the clothes, knives, Atl-Atl's etc), trained and coached in a History Channel episode. Museum Quality Clovis
They flew me to Moab, Utah where we filmed for 5 days.  Talk about a blast!  I will put the whole story out later.
This is the type of Atl-Atl's and spears we will be making.
