Dec. 10 - 11
After 2 months of on and off rain, then around 16 inches about 10 days prior to the dig the soil remained tough to screen. It was screenable but it slowed us down tremendously. We figured we were going at just under 1/2 the amount of dirt we did at Laguna. If we do not get any more serious rains the site ought to be in perfect condition after the holidays. We will be after it again this weekend after another week of wind and sun, conditions should be improving!
You may not recognize Juan Davison without his Sombrero! He found this pretty little serrated Scallorn with the tip damaged.
Charles Dietrich from Midland found this very old and agatized wood Angostura. The video below (just click
the link) shows him finding a point on the surface that dropped off the backhoe.

Watch Dale Rainwater as pulls a big Perd off the top of the dirt just as I put it on the screen!
Nice one Dale!
First arrowhead find! Jeremy Mize finds this awesome Marcos point for his first ever arrowhead!
We are hoping to find the Corner Tang knife that goes with this point soon!
I warned you that there were plenty of snakes out there!

Here is the short movie of the Copper Head, now I have to admit it is shaky! I was
a little nervous that I could not see the venomous snake through the eye piece and that he might crawl my
way instead of away!
Don Fabrygel, was dubbed the Master Digger about 10 years ago by us diggers. Below are his first two
tools, a worn out shovel and his first digging pick. He said that the pick maker told him that this is the first
wiggle pick he has had to replace from wear ( not broken). How many shovels have you ever seen worn out?
The two points on the right below can be seen discussed in the "Ask Bob" portion of your TAAA web page.
Dad Charley Mize got to see BOTH his sons find their first arrowheads this weekend...
and I don't care what anybody says.... That's COOL! They are spoiled now!
Here Charley shows off his beauty of a Perdiz. This point appears to have been made out of an Arkansas
type of Noveculite! Great find!
Christopher Mize also finds his first arrowhead on the dig this weekend! As bad of hearing that I have
I heard him let out a whooooop as he uncovered the point!

Jeremy finds what is definitely a Paleo looking point. Plainview? Maybe, maybe not but it definitely has the look. The base was slightly ground. There were few tell tell parallel flakes on the piece also! Notice the end of the knife as it has been resharpened, indicating it was used as a cutting edge.
Winter skeeeeters are big out here!
A snub nose scraper.
