LOOK! Steve Jones found the dart point that goes with the blade I found the night "it rained and rained" (click to the story!) It came out of the same hole, has the same flaking and base!
Congratulations on the super find Steve!
We are all discussing this point type, one we are not used to finding! Axtel? Robert Kincaid find!
Jerry Wiley pulled out a San Saba dart point! Remember? We found a large San Saba knife opening weekend at this site. See that knife here by clicking the XXX's.
Wayne is the ultimate digger! 8 feet and going down for Paleo!
Carla Cox found this super shell spoon made from a clam shell! See the work on the right front edge?
Super Early Triangular!
Go Carla! Lots of pottery shards to be found at this site!
Leighton Weir always comes out with at least one keeper!
Nice bone awl with ancient markings BUT its not awl there dang it!
Bill La France found some very pretty birdies in the bird point mound!
And he found an old 45-50 Caliber shell casing (1860's?)
Some of Leighton's recently restored pieces!
Photos are not going to do this piece justice. It was made of Sugar Quartz, light tan with two black stripes running diagonally across the face (when wet you can see it!). Also, the quartz looked like diamonds in the sun. The camera just will not pick that up!
The next 5 pieces are our Sat. nights cooks finds! Besides cooking a great supper Sat night for all the hungry diggers that attended he also found time to find these nice artifacts. Thank you Bill Thompson for being our guest cook Sat night! The pork chops were great!
Below are better photos of Robert's Axtel and Catan.
Tony Lupo made it back for his first dig after he broke his leg at our last dig in Laguna. He was hobbling but looks like he will be OK and soon be in full form! Did not stop him from finding some artifacts either!
Our landowner Henry Bisenbach is showing off this cool necklace piece he found at the bird point
mound. Notice the heat treatment on the stone (red and glossy).
Bone awls! AND, and.... Joe Bravo found this
awesome Perdiz in the bird point camp! A super piece!
Dr. Steve usually gets him a couple before he heads home. Steve is rehabbing from a serious
heart attack! Glad to see him back in the saddle and clawing in the dirt again!
Jerry Wiley found this super LaJita!
and a nice base tang knife to boot!
Tony Lupo did alight considering he had to sift off of a stool due to his leg problem. Sorry that this
point did not come out better. It had some super flaking on it. Fire that camera man! HAHA (the problem is I cannot see to well anymore and it looks in focus to me when I snap! NO More birthdays!!! :)
And one last piece for Steve Jones before going home!
SEE YOU ALL AT THE DIG THIS WEEK, WE ARE STARTING TO DIG THIS THURSDAY THROUGH SUN!
