Week 3

Wes Richardson found the only Pandale at the Montell site so far. Check out that twist!

Our landowner, Howard Gilliam, holds a super blade that Jim Nichols found.

What could have been!  Frank Falk shows 1/2 of what would have been a super Castroville blade!

Paul Richardson found this Pedernales (4 3/4" ) in the throw dirt!
If you dig at this site, one thing to remember, you must look for shapes!  The
flint is covered with calcite and is the same color as the fire rock making it
very tricky to see the artifacts.  Many super pieces have been found in the
throw dirt, a full 3 hole gorget, this super Perd, a 2 1/4 in Perdiz, a couple of fist
axes and many more!  It is better to move less dirt and go through it more closely!

Patricia Saunders came to the dig with a great attitude, a keen eye and found at least 5 or more artifacts.

John Hughes #1 & 2 are working a hole together, the first find, a Martindale!

Jim Axe nearly got him a great Castroville base tang!  A whole one will come out soon!

LaJita woman! Carla Cox

Mike Falk found some nice artifacts, look at the flaking on that Castroville!

Joe Gilpin and Deana Sheffield found the "mother lode!"

Jim Nichols found this great Chalcedony (material) Friday knife, an Andice - broken but
look at that material and a sweet Marshall.

The material on the Friday resembles Arkansas Noveculite.

Jim Axe - Frio and Super Bell

Then, Wes Richardson pulls out what we all would love to have, a super base tang knife!

Jim found another Andice

"Eagle Eye" Paul Richardson found these two Perdiz points!

Compare this photo with week one.

John Hughes found this awesome Perd drill and Guadalupe biface.

Tips gone but still a super Kinney Jim!

Alan Mitchell came after the translucent flints at the site and found his first Langtry!

Jim finds another killer Kinney.

Awwwwww!  What an Awl!  HAHA  sorry Carla!  This was a huge piece.

Jim Shows two pretty tools, a turtle back and flake knife.  Again, note the calcite
that effectively camaflouges all the artifacts.

Royal Hilton found a gorgeous drill!
